Eastleigh Abductions

Homicide detectives from the DCI have intensified investigations into the recent abduction and murder of three Eastleigh family members, uncovering that a woman, who was also abducted with them, was held for ransom and later freed after her family deposited nearly Ksh1 million in an Ethiopian bank. 

As detectives piece together the final moments of Waris Daud, 42, her daughter Nuseiba Dahir, 12, and niece Amina Abdirashad, 23, they have been intrigued by suspicious phone activity between the victims phones.

On October 21, just hours before their bodies were discovered, Daud’s phone number showed repeated communication with Amina’s phone - a perplexing interaction that has left investigators questioning who was on the other end.

The investigation revealed that Daud initially left her home that morning for a skin-care appointment at Business Bay Square Mall in Eastleigh but her two family members, concerned when she failed to return, soon went out to look for her.

Shortly afterwards, their bodies were found in separate locations across Nairobi, each bearing disturbing signs of brutal assault. 

Detectives are now working to determine whether these communications were made by Daud herself or if they were manipulated by her captors in a bid to confuse or mislead family members.

Police are also combing through CCTV footage and mobile data, focusing on the exact locations of their phones on the night of the abduction, including last-known pings in Eastleigh and the final shutdown in Pangani. 

With a team of over 15 detectives on the case, the DCI is striving to piece together the complex timeline and trace the suspects behind these killings, amid calls for justice from the Eastleigh community.
